"Violet ("Tina") Picard Ramirez, passed away June 5, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving daughters. She was 86. She was born on December 1, 1930 to Walter and Blanche Fabre Picard in Livonia, Louisiana. A kind and loving woman, she was dedicated to her faith and her family. She was a trusted friend and always saw the good in everyone. She celebrated life everyday and made everyone happier with her great sense of humor. She was unparalleled in her culinary ability and took pleasure in making a feast for any family gathering or holiday. Everyone who met "Mama Rez" felt her kindness and warmth instantly and were happier after having spent just a few moments listening to her wisdom that she freely offered to anyone who needed advice. Because of this, her values, morals and her faith can be witnessed through her children and their families. She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for many years, attending services, holy days of obligation and volunteering for various groups and spending time in the adoration chapel. Violet is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Wynters and husband Johnny; Janice Collett and husband Bill; Marilyn Walker and Melanie Bright and husband Drew. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Picard; Grandchildren, Bruce Miller and wife Tina; Jason Miller; Jeremy Vicknair and wife Erin; Angela Brady and husband Justin; Austin Bright and Leighton Bright, Rhett Ramirez and wife Tina, and Dirk Ramirez ; Great-grandchildren, Easton Brady; Cooper Vicknair, Mia Vicknair; Joy Miller; Dustin Miller; Sheridan Bennett; Payton Miller; Robyn Miller; Bradley Miller and Trevor Miller, Rex Ramirez and Stump Dirk Ramirez. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Picard. Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Ward Ramirez and son, Russell Ramirez; parents, Walter and Blanche Fabre Picard; sisters, Gailyne ''Nucy'' Sutherland and Dorothy "Dot" Orillion Berthelot; brothers, Lester Picard, Walter ''Put'' Roy Picard, and John ''Pete'' Benny Picard. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home 11000, Florida Blvd., Wednesday June 7, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm and continuing Thursday June 8, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs, Rd. from 11:30am until the mass of Christian burial at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Mike Moroney. The graveside service and burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Pallbearers will be: Bruce Miller; Jeremy Vicknair; Leighton Bright, Austin Bright, Rhett Ramirez and Dirk Ramirez Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Collett and Drew Bright.
