Tony passed from this life to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 06, 2015 at 8:45pm at the age of 95. He was born on June 12, 1920 in Sunshine and was a resident of Baton Rouge. Tony was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and worked as a butcher for National Food Store. He will be missed not only by family but his many friends from St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and Hollywood Casino, especially by his close friend, Elizabeth Montabano. Visitation will be held Thursday at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 9:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am, conducted by the Rev. Charles Landry. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Michael Vicknair, James Vicknair, Jimmy Wohlert, Gerald Crochet, Darren Crochet and David Crochet. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Nagy and Donnie Crochet. Tony is survived by his sister: Mary Messina; special nephew: E. J. Crochet and numerous nieces&nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Jennie Lombardo Messina; parents: Lorenzo&Mary Catanzaro Messina; brothers: Jack, Mike, Joe, Nick and Frank Messina; sisters: Lena Bonanno, Annie Sedito, Rosa Crochet and Felicie Messina. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
