

A retired plant supervisor for Anderson-Dunham Concrete with 25 years' service, he died Thursday evening, May 24, 2007, at his son's residence in Walker. He was 80, a native of Stringer, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was also a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 26. Visiting on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Memory Chapel in Laurel, Miss. Visiting continues Monday after 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. at Fair Ridge Baptist Church in Stringer, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Jennings. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by the mother of his children, Gloria Joyce Bankston of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Tommye Bankston Dauphin and husband Gary of Mandeville; two sons, Gordon Dixon "Dickie" Bankston and wife Sharon of Baton Rouge and Timothy Lance "Tim" Bankston and wife Bobbie of Walker; a brother, P.O. Bankston and wife Dorothy "Dot" Bankston of Stringer; six grandchildren, Leah and husband Darrin, Lance, Kayla, G.A., Sammy and Colleen; and two great-grandchildren, Derrick and Laura. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.D. and Jenny Bankston; and a sister, Mary Alice Bankston Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Jones, Joe Branch, Pete Grissom, Gary Dauphin, Larry Anderson and Wilber Williams.
