She was born March 26th, 1975, in Baton Rouge and was 49 years of age. She is survived by her fiancé of 13 years, Franklin Shaffer, of Baton Rouge; son, Jake Bourgeois, his wife, Maci Bourgeois, and their 2 children, Collins and Kane Bourgeois, of Kentwood; her 2 uncles, Matthew Champagne, of Bloomington, Indiana and Joseph Champagne, Jr, of Acton, Massachusetts; and grandmother Emily Champagne of Bloomington, Indiana. She was also a mother to 5 fur-babies: 2 cats, Bailey & Meow Meow; 3 dogs, Grace "Lump", Tilt, & Kitty.
Preceded in death by her parents Rhonda & Mark Champagne & grandfather Joseph Champagne Sr.
Tobie was a 1994 graduate of McKinley High School in Baton Rouge. She studied at ITT Technical College as a paralegal. She worked for two years as a salesperson at All Brands in Baton Rouge. She also worked for several years as an Intake Specialist at Companion Animal Alliance, which is the animal shelter of Baton Rouge. Tobie and Franklin met there, fell in love, and were at each other's side every day for the next 13 years.
Tobie enjoyed being outside working with flowers; she especially had a knack for growing aloe vera. She loved being around animals and had a desire for bath and kitchen designing.
Tobie and Franklin were everything to each other; she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Franklin called Tobie “Momma” and wants to tell her, “I love you "Momma", always and forever, until we meet again.”
