“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Timothy James Prather, born in Mamou, Louisiana on July 27, 1961, died February 2, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital following a brief and hard fought illness.
Tim, an attorney, retired from his position as Senate Counsel and Director of Governmental Affairs Division at the Louisiana State Senate in July of 2020, after 29 years of dedicated service.
Prior to his employment with the Senate, Tim was an EMT with Acadian Ambulance. He was a good and kind man that his son described as “a man’s man”. He enjoyed working with his hands to build and create; achieving a black belt in Jujitsu; riding his motorcycle; flying a plane and model airplanes; diving and snorkeling. He strongly believed in living life to the fullest, knowing full well that life could change in a moment.
His was known as the ultimate family man. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his wife and children. Tim is survived by the love of life, best friend and wife, Dalora Salter; son, Timothy; and daughter, Samantha.
A memorial celebrating Tim’s joie de vivre will be held at a later date.
