On Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, Thelma LaMotte Jackson entered into eternal rest, at the age of 86. Born on September 4, 1932, in Baton Rouge, LA. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Walter Earl LaMotte and Inez Bajoie LaMotte. Paternal grandparents, Centennial LaMotte and Bessie Lejeune LaMotte of West Baton Rouge Parish. Maternal grandparents, Auguste Bajoie, Sr. and Corinne Hebert Bajoie of Pointe Coupee’ Parish. A homemaker, devoted wife, supportive mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was respected as a highly skilled seamstress, teaching all of her daughters and granddaughters to sew. As a life-long member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she served as Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with The St Vincent DePaul Society. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Vanessa Jackson Green (Roosevelt); Dr. Desmarie Jackson DeCuir (Patrick); Rosezel Jackson Haynes (Kevin), Desmond Andre’ Jackson (LaShaun), and Stacy Jackson Corey (Jeffery), 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law Audrey Thomas LaMotte, Shelvia Jackson Stewart, Mabel Jackson Simmons; and many nephews and nieces.
Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Desmond Joseph Jackson, Jr., her parents, and her only brother Prof. Walter E. LaMotte, Jr.
Friday, September 28, 2018, Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 29, 2018, services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Myrtle Walk St, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Visitation from 9:00 am-10:am, Rosary 10:00am. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, interment to immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
