A Mass of Christian Burial for Sybil Ory Uter Morris will begin at noon Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Sybil's nephew, the Rev. Frank Uter, of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will celebrate Mass and conduct the burial service. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church followed by entombment at Roselawn Cemetery. Sybil Morris died Sunday, April 25, at her residence in Baton Rouge. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican College, New Orleans, and later president of the Alumnae Association. She attended numerous classes at LSU and traveled extensively. Her husband of 29 years was Dr. Clifton T. Morris Sr., who died in 2001. Her first husband of 29 years was Judge Lawrence A. Uter Sr., who died in 1971. Sybil Morris is survived by their children, Candace Uter de Russy, Nancy Uter Giordano-Echegoyen, Susan Uter Shaughnessy, Lawrence A. Uter Jr. and Ellen Driscoll Uter. Sybil's grandchildren are Maria Giordano-Echegoyen, Adam Daly, Gabrielle de Russy Levasseur, Andre de Russy, Magdalene Shaughnessy, Linden Uter and Miranda Shaughnessy. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Oscar Joseph Ory Jr. Sybil Morris's stepchildren are Dr. Clifton T. Morris Jr., Mary Morris Wall and the late Dr. William G. Morris. Sybil Marie Ory Uter Morris was born in Garyville on Nov. 24, 1921. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Oscar J. Ory Sr. and Beatrice Richard Ory; and brother, Oscar Richard Ory.
