Susan Krebs Price, age 72, peacefully passed away on September 9, 2022. Susan, known by most as Sue, was one of those unique souls, blessed with the ability to see a silver lining in any cloud. Sue had a knack for seeing the bright side of any situation and could make the best lemonade – proverbial or otherwise - out of any lemon that put itself in her path. Early on, Sue’s drive and heart put her on a path to success. She was a proud graduate of the 1968 class of The Ursulines of Brown County, a convent boarding school, in Fayetteville, OH. She later attended USL, where she was a proud member of Chi Omega sorority. While attending USL, the free-spirited Sue met the love of her life, the energetic and ever-attentive Ray W. “Buddy” Price, Jr. Their love and partnership blossomed and in 1972, the loving couple were married. Sue and Buddy worked diligently, as a team, to build the life that they wanted. Sue began working as Design Draftsman for her father’s company, at a very young age. She continued in this career for a few decades, working at several firms in Baton Rouge, until her entrepreneurial spirit eventually compelled her to open her own catering business. After starting their family, Sue’s passion for cooking, and bringing joy to others, led her and Buddy to open and operate their successful catering company – Abigail’s Fine Catering. Sue was ever on the hunt for the next creative dish or presentation that she could incorporate into her menus. Each event that Abigail’s hosted, for Sue, was an opportunity to warm hearts, to sooth souls and to tickle new taste buds in creative new ways. Sue never met a stranger and was quite fearless, when it came to meeting new people. Sue had a natural charisma and always a twinkle in her eye, which made it impossible not to love her. On top of her ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face, Sue was also of the most kind and generous humans one could ever know. She was a woman of Faith, compassion and always put others’ needs before her own. Sue kept herself busy. When not caring for her family or running her business, Sue took part in many groups and organizations. She was a member of the Baton Rouge Networking Club and, alongside her husband, Sue consistently volunteered with Bishop Ott’s ministry to feed the homeless. Sue especially enjoyed her time spent as a member of “The Highlight of Our Social Life” Pokeno Club and even found time to, once, be crowned the Queen of Mardi Gras. Sue found joy and saw beauty in so many things. However, she found this joy and beauty, most of all, in her family and especially when with her grandchildren. Sue loved her friends and family and, reader, although you may not have known her, Sue probably loved you, too. Sue was a shining light on this earth and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Betty Webre Krebs, and by her infant brother, John Mark Krebs. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ray W. “Buddy” Price, Jr.; two loving children: Jennifer Price Sigler (Matthew) of Prairieville, LA and John Ray “Jay” Price (Jennie) of Clarksville, TN; four beloved grandchildren: Landry Helmke, Camille Sigler, Jonas and Clay Price; two sisters: Paula Kleeb and Melissa O’Dell; two brothers: Richmond Krebs and Matthew Krebs; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Donations may be made, in Sue’s memory, to the American Stroke Association (stroke.org). The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Ochsner Hospital ICU. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 5pm – 7pm, at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 9am-10am, with a Funeral Service to begin at 10am, at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Entombment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
