Stephen James Sita

Stephen James Sita passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the age of 62. A resident of Metairie, LA, he was a graduate of East Jefferson High School and completed many hours of instruction in air conditioning and refrigeration at the Jefferson Parish Vocational Technical School in Metairie. A very kind and gentle person, he was adored by friends and family. At the age of 23 he began his struggle with mental illness. Although the sadness that is invoked on an entire family can be overwhelming, with the support of his loving parents and family he fought courageously, never losing his strong faith in God. In his final years of life on this earth, he was at peace. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents Anthony Sita and Marguerite Duffau Sita; maternal grandparents Lincoln Courtade and Lillie Carline Courtade. He is survived by his parents Harry John Sita and Dorothy Courtade Sita; siblings David Sita (Terry) and Lynne Sita Doubleday; nieces and nephews Brandon Sita (Emily), Jessica Sita Couch (Nick), Daniel Doubleday and Ashley Doubleday (Jason Percle); great nieces and nephews Brady Sita, Laney Sita, Connor Couch and Parker Couch. A private family graveside service was held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Grace Memorial Park in the City of Plaquemine, LA, Parish of Iberville, birthplace of his mother. Rev. Gregory J. Daigle, Pastor of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, officiated. A special thanks for all of the loving support from his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; also from neighbors who showed him kindness throughout the years.
