

Stanley Eugene Cheatham passed away on October 14, 2023 at the age of 77. Stanley was a lifelong resident of Central LA. He graduated from Central High School where he was a standout athlete and student, Louisiana State University and LSU Law School as a member of the Order of the Coif. Stanley served in various roles during his life, but he was most proud to be husband to the love of his life and wife of 55 years Marlene, father to his four sons and "Papoo" to his thirteen grandchildren. He was a lifelong businessman and entrepreneur in Louisiana as owner of ABC Building Supply, Builder's Antique Menagerie, The Recycling Foundation and Heirline Properties. He loved the Lord and spent years as a Sunday school teacher at Zoar Baptist Church across all age groups. Stanley was a devoted prison minister who traveled to Angola Penitentiary weekly for decades to minister to inmates. He was a generous man who assisted countless ministries across the world, sharing the blessings that God bestowed upon his family, preferring to do so anonymously. He taught his family to be obedient to God in giving and service and leaves a legacy as a humble servant of God. Stanley was preceded in death by his father Stanley E Cheatham, mother Josephine Heck Cheatham, granddaughter Emma Grace Cheatham, father-in-law Willie McAdams and mother-in-law Maurie McAdams. He is survived by his wife Marlene McAdams Cheatham. Stanley Earl "Lee" Cheatham and his wife Tammy Jeansonne Cheatham and children Grace Marie and Stanley Eugene Cheatham II. Steven Eugene Cheatham and his wife Katie Revel Cheatham and children Madison Anne, Steven Everett, and Mary Claire Cheatham. Scott Eric Cheatham and his wife Emily Coward Cheatham and children Lillian Grace, Sophie Grace and Josephine Grace Cheatham. Skye Edwards Cheatham and wife Liberty McManus Cheatham and children Camille Elizabeth, Evelynn Rose, Isabelle Dawn and Harper Maurie Cheatham. Stanley had many special people in his life, especially his nephew Brent McAdams who he considered a son and Mike, Katie and Shelby LeBlanc who were his family and he loved Shelby as a granddaughter. Pallbearers are his sons and grandsons, with honorary pallbearers Wallace Heck Jr., Raymond Heck, Cornelius Norman, Brent McAdams and Mike LeBlanc. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 18 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La 70815. There will be further visitation from 9 am to 11 am with religious services at 11 am on Thursday October 19 at Zoar Baptist Church located at 11848 Hooper Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70818. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home at lbch.org or the First Christian Church homeless ministry at 1419 Government St., Mobile, AL 36604.
