Shirley Frances Le Blanc Hartsfield passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge, LA on January 17, 2016 at the age of 95. She was the wife of Wylie "Duke" Hartsfield for 53 years and preceded in death by Duke, her parents, Dr. Boote Le Blanc and Daisy "Gigi" Carville Le Blanc, her brothers Boote Le Blanc, Russell "Redbug" Le Blanc and her sisters Joyce Mc Cammon, Doris Phelps, Ethel "Squatty" Landry, and Jean Richardson. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother. She raised her two children Dr. Todd Hartsfield and Ginger Frances Hartsfield. Todd is presently a dentist at a Community Health Center in Zachary, and Ginger is a retired teacher/coach of 35 years. Shirley was an avid golfer, bowler and swimmer for many years of her life. She was an excellent cook and continued to prepare delicious meals into her 90's. Her daughter-in-law, Bette Pugh Hartsfield is forever thankful to Shirley for teaching her how to cook, and for all of the wonderful things she did for her over the years. Shirley worked for Sears in a part-time position in the cashier's office for 22 years before retiring. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed cross-word puzzles and Sudoku and attributed her excellent memory, from the challenges of these activities. Shirley was an avid football fan and kept up with all of the LSU sports on the radio or television. She even attended LSU football games into her 90's. She loved watching golf and knew every professional player by name, and enjoyed talking to her son Todd about the tournaments and players. Shirley was an emotionally strong lady who accepted life's ups and downs with a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Even though she was paralyzed from a stroke on one side and couldn't walk, she maintained a positive attitude, and was so thankful for everything that any of the caretakers, family and neighbors did to make her life more comfortable. She was a terrific Mom and we will have a big void in our lives without her. A special thanks to her caretaker, Tara Minor, who gave her the best possible care with love and devotion. We are so appreciative of the staff from Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care who tended to her weekly medical and personal hygiene needs with compassion and respect. Pallbearers will be: Joe Ryan, Kurt Johnson, Tim Albritton, Fred McCammon, J.W. Wheat, Owen Parker. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9:00"“10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January, 23, 2016, followed by a funeral Mass. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
