Scott attended LSU for three years studying Plant and Horticulture Science. Before his final year, he had an opportunity to attend Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. Scott earned his MS degree in Soil Microbiology in 1991 and became one of the region’s top wetlands experts. A renowned authority on wetlands restoration and mitigation banking, Scott helped put in place over 30 wetland mitigation banks. His lifelong career has been focused on his huge effort to identify, protect, and restore wetlands and helped educate many of the top mitigation banking experts in in south Louisiana. Scott has spent the last 10 years of his life advocating restoration and promotion of the Spanish Lake Basin and trying to create an education center for the local community https://sleecla.org/ Scott believed the area to be a Louisiana treasure that should be enjoyed by all. Always artistic, expressing his art in many forms, such as his beautiful Ikebana flower arrangements and wood carvings, in 2019 Scott began painting all the fabulous marshes and wetlands he had experienced in south Louisiana. His studies on birds are particularly spectacular. Artist, mentor, friend to all, Scott was a truly remarkable person. One who always had a joke, a story, or a way to make you smile.
