Sandra “Sandy” Noullet Stein, native of New Orleans and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on January 22, 2023 at the age of 82. She is survived by her daughter, Kris, and husband Jason Guerin; her son, Curt Stein; two grandchildren, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Guerin and Elliot Guerin; two nieces and one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Lennie Stein, Jr.; parents, John and Marquerite Brunette Noullet; and her brother, Anthony “Tony” Noullet.
Sandy was a longtime member and of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was the school secretary and part of the Hornet family for 35 years. Here, she made lasting friendships with faculty, families and students. She loved her grandchildren and was known to them as Nanau. Sandy was also an avid reader of all the Danielle Steele books, enjoyed playing cards and solving the Jumble Words and crossword puzzles. She would never turn down a tray of crawfish. In her younger years, she had a love for fishing, bowling and playing poker. She was born to her mother, Marquerite “Maggie” and father, John, near the Warehouse District. Marquerite was a self-taught tax and bookkeeper, and John worked for the local New Orleans newspaper. Sandy acquired her work ethic from both. Sandy’s life was not without loss and heartache. It was her irreverent sense of humor and New Orleans grit that helped her to survive. We will miss her precious soul, our steel magnolia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her honor towards the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A memorial gathering will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 9 am- 11 am, followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 11:30 am. Please visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences to the family.
