On Jan. 13, 2008, Sandy went to be with the holy Lord. She was born in New York on July 21, 1942. She grew up in St. Louis, attended the University of Missouri and flew for United Airlines. Everyone she touched in her life knew that by her care and understanding they were encouraged to be the best they could be. She cared for and instilled in her personal and work families the basics of care and grew a successful career from it. With 26 years in the Louisiana Realtors Association, she was the professional director, professional conduct director and the assistant to the CEO. In Sandy's position, she had the ability to develop each entry-level Realtor to maximize their potential. She was recognized by the National Association of Realtors as chairman of the education directors and also received the highest recognition with national and state awards for achievement. In 1995-1996, she received the highest achievement for academic success in real estate education from the National Association of Realtors. Sandy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Garry Lash; son, Brian Lash; daughter, Shannon Lash; and granddaughter, Anna Mixon, all of Baton Rouge. Also survived by a sister, Susie Merry, of Santa Barbara, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Catherine Merry. Visitation at First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Center.
