Samuel Burleson King, 42, of Baton Rouge, passed away on July 21, 2016. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Episcopal High School and Louisiana State University. Sam was a long time employee of AECOM (URS) and founded his first business at the age of 22. He was an avid and inventive gardener, careful with his tools, and meticulous in his hobbies. Sam was quiet, exceptionally considerate, and often the most responsible and reliable person around. His helping hand and loving heart will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Allen King III; grandfather and namesake, Sam Burleson; grandmother Nona Jacobs; step-grandmother, Marie Burleson; grandmother Elizabeth Johnson; and grandfather Henry Allen King, Jr. Sam is survived by his wife, April Guillory King; mother Sammie Burleson King, of Baton Rouge; sister Shelley Frihauf and husband Dan, of Byers, Colorado; and brother Henry Allen "Chip" King IV and wife Stephanie, of Atlanta, Georgia. Sam was a beloved uncle to nephews and nieces Aleksey "Losha", Nathan, Benjamin, David, Daniel, Jonathan, Henry, Emily, Lauren, Rebecca, and Sarah. Sam leaves behind the two luckiest dogs in the world, Rex and Samson. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown, 825 Government St., from 5:00 p.m. until a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. The family thanks the staff at the Baton Rouge General and St. Joseph Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation.
