Ronald James Clayton was born on August 23, 1967 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mama, Diana Roubique Clayton, and his daddy, James Leroy Clayton eagerly awaited his arrival. And so did his sister, Kelly. When Ronnie was five years old his lifelong fan was born; little sister Cherie Bowers.
He graduated first from West Feliciana High School, and then from Loyola University, leading to his work as a Marketing Manager for an entertainment law firm in Los Angeles. Ron's work had him live in California, New York City, and Washington DC.
Like many folks who leave, yet feel pulled to return, he came home in 2013.
Ronnie was true Louisiana. He loved to cook (probably still thinks he wears the Gumbo crown), to travel, and to host loved ones at his home in Lafayette.
Ronald will be remembered for his dedicated work with Acadiana Cares, and Acadiana Animal Aid Shelter. He will be remembered for his willingness to love even the most unlovable dogs and cats. For his curiosity, his intellect, his fierce humor, and his howling, ringing laugh.
He is currently gathered with his grandparents, Wilna "Teasy" Kleinpeter Clayton & Clarence Leroy Clayton, and Wilmer & Suzy Ruth Devall Roubique, his sister, Kim Michelle Bowers, Uncle Brent Clayton, Aunt Barbara Roussel, Aunt Sue and Uncle Ivy "Nook" Landry, and so many others that passed before he did. They are certainly up to no good, laughter echoing like thunder and disturbing their neighbors.
He leaves behind those who will miss him daily: his beloved mother, Diana Roubique Duvall, father, James Clayton and step mother, Debbie Huckeba, his sisters Kelly Clayton and Cherie Bowers, nephews Michael Clayton, Travis Carona, Nicholas Carona, Kaleb Bowers, Jackson Schneider, and Jared Wiley. As an adult, Ronnie finally had brothers in Brian Schneider and Stuart Wiley.
