R. Edwin (Ed) Taylor died Sunday, September 29th at St. James Place in Baton Rouge. He was 85, born in Meridian, MS and was a resident of Baton Rouge since 1949. He attended schools in Meridian and Pascagoula, MS. In 1963, Ed co-founded with his wife of 64 years, Frances McLaurin Taylor (Fran), Taylor Office Supply Company, Inc., which they owned until selling it in 1994. Ed traveled the world with his wife, visiting all seven continents and 82 countries and was also an instrument rated private pilot. He was a well known humorist and comedian, with an acquired Cajun accent and for eighteen years, a regular performer for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company on their three paddle wheelers; The American Queen, Mississippi Queen and Delta Queen. He also entertained regularly on the River Barge Explorer, as well as for civic and religious groups, conventions and especially military reunions. His motto was "Have Jokes: Will Travel" and he believed "laughter really is the best medicine". He was a member since 1959 and past worshipful master of Fairfield's Lodge No. 425, F.&A.M., Baton Rouge Consistory, past president of Capital City Kiwanis, past president of Marketing Managers Association, Baton Rouge Aircraft Pilots Association, Methodist Church, Scout Master and other civic organizations. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Grady E. Taylor and his wife, Roxanne Lea Taylor, Baton Rouge, Honorable Richard D. Taylor, Little Rock, AR and Steven C. Taylor and his wife, Jamie Chatagnier Taylor, Baton Rouge. Four grandchildren, Christine Lynn Taylor Klein and her husband, Christian, Austin, TX, Brandon R. Taylor, Lindsey Lea Taylor and Hannah F. Taylor, Baton Rouge. Great-granddaughter Marigny Frances Klein, Austin, TX and former daughter in law Dottie Taylor Daniels, Carbondale, CO. He was preceded in death by his Father, Clarence F. Taylor and Mother, Beula Bardwell Taylor Campbell, brother Sgt. William C. Taylor, USAF who was killed in 1943 when his plane was shot down over Austria, sisters Elizabeth Taylor Damare', Dorothy Taylor Railey and Sylvia F. Taylor. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:00PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street.
