Robert C “Bobby” Smith, a native of Gretna, LA, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, was called to his heavenly home on July 1, 2022 following a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lynn R Smith and Audrey C Smith of Gretna and his brother: Lynn R “Mickey” Smith Jr. Bobby is survived by the love of his life, his wife Michell Smith; his sons: Robert “Robby” Smith, Jr (Amy) of Metairie LA and Michael “Mike” Smith (Stacey) of Baton Rouge; six loving grandchildren: Emma, Anderson, Robert III, Reid, Adelynn and Ryland; his sisters: Edna Mae Hepting (George), Sandy Marlborough (AJ), Connie Madden, Bonnie Andrus (Lloyd); his dear cousin JoAnn Toomy (Joe) and a multitude of other cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many, many dear and loving friends. Bobby retired from ExxonMobil with 25 years of service spent primarily in the marine division, SeaRiver Maritime Inc. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area Bobby developed a love and expertise for discovering and enjoying fine wines. One of his greatest pleasures in life was sharing his “finds” with family and friends. Bobby loved to travel and enjoyed many trips abroad for business and certainly for pleasure. He had a knack for woodworking and used those skills in projects for family and friends. He had a passion for snow skiing and enjoyed many trips “shooshing” down the slopes. Bobby was truly a family man and relished his roles as husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted brother and a model son. He was so very proud of the families his sons are raising. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, 2:00PM at St Joseph Abbey Church, 75376 River Road, St Benedict, LA (Covington) followed by inurnment in the Abbey cemetery.
