Robert E. “Bob” Hebert Sr. entered eternal rest to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10 am on August 19 with his bride at his side while at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. He was born on September 15, 1929 and was 83. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather who loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest. Bob loved his Lord Jesus Christ and was a Deacon in his church, First Baptist Church of Port Allen, and served as his age and health permitted. He was an Honorary Past Master of Blazing Star Lodge 212 in Port Allen, LA. He graduated from Port Allen High in 1947 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from LSU in 1956. He volunteered for the US Marine Corps in 1948 and served in the Korean War in 1950 and 1951. Bob was in Sales and Sales Management his entire career having retired from L.M. Berry and Company (BellSouth now AT&T) in 1984. Bob loved spending time at his fishing camp on Grand River, playing golf and spending time with his friends at Westside Golf Club where he was a Charter Member. Bob is survived by his beautiful bride, Lois Gremillion Hebert; two sons, Robert E. Hebert Jr. & wife Cheryl of Brusly, LA, and Terryl W. Hebert of Greenwell Springs, LA; two daughters, Deidra A. Meyer & husband Keith of Prairieville, LA, and Brenda K. Holden of Picayune, MS; two stepdaughters, Cynthia A. Hebert of Baton Rouge, LA, and Donna B. Grayson & husband Charles of Slidell, LA; daughter-in-law, Sandra Hebert of Chicago, IL; three brothers & their wives, William D. Hebert & Lela of Baker, LA, Thomas L. Hebert & Jerry of Port Allen, LA, and Joseph Lee Hebert & Kathleen of Pensacola, FL; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Edward Joseph and Lela Ash Hebert; son Keneth C. Hebert; two grandchildren, Keith “Scooter" Meyer and Monica Meyer; and brother, Edward Hebert. Pallbearers are Brett Hebert, Stephen Hebert, TJ Hebert, Jacob Hebert, Chase Meyer, Chris Prestridge, and Brody Prestridge. Honorary Pallbearers are the Job Sunday School Class where Bob was their teacher. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 5 pm to 8pm with a Masonic Ceremony at 8pm conducted by Brother Jimmy Jackson. Visitation will continue the following day at First Baptist Church of Port Allen, 4200 Rebelle Ln, Port Allen, LA 70767, from 8 am to 11 am, with the service beginning at 11am officiated by Rev. Gray Pearson. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. All relatives and friends are invited.
