Robert "Bob" Stephenson Greer Jr.

Robert Stephenson Greer, Jr. departed his earthly home on March 19th as a result of metastatic cancer. Bob was born July 20, 1947 in New Orleans, LA, the first son of Patricia Pettry and Robert S. Greer, Sr. Bob was married to his wife,Alice Dugas Greer for 58 years. He was the father of Steve Greer (fiancéeSunny Mayhall) and Jonathan “Pokey” Greer. Alice and Bob are proud grandparents of two granddaughters, Cassie Greer Beychok (husband Bradley Beychok and children Amelia and Beau) and Gifford Greer and three grandsons, Cody Greer(wife Addie and children Parker, Millie, and Eloise Alise), Jakob Greer, and Rhett Greer. Special appreciation to Bob’s brother, John Greer (wifeGay) and Yvette Bonanno,who have been a godsend to the family during this time. Bob is also survived by numerous faithful family members and treasured friends who know the value Bob brought to their lives.

Bob joined Business First Bancshares Inc.,b1BANK, as a director in May of 2010 and served as Chairman of the Board of b1BANK since 2011.Bob previously served as President and CEO of several insurance companies throughout the United States, including Union National Life Insurance Company in Baton Rouge,Unitrin Corporation in Chicago, Providian Insurance in Louisville and LEMIC Insurance Company in Baton Rouge. Bob’s community involvement spans decades in Baton Rouge, Chicago and Louisville serving many organizations including Mary Bird Perkins, Woman’s Hospital and the United Way to name a few.

Services will be officiated by Father Cleo Milano, who continues to be a spiritual support for the family, on Saturday, March23, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church (7808 St.George Ave, Baton Rouge,LA 70809). Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. immediately followed by the burial at the St. George Cemetery. The family extends special thanks to Father Paul Yi, Ann Bertsch, and Laura Blanchard for their generosity during this difficult time. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are Terrell Brown, Bobby Bryan, Sprinky Durand, Kirby Guidry, Van Mayhall, Jr.,Stokes McConnell, John Young, John Thomas (represented by Andy Thomas), Jude Melville, Bradley Beychok, Cody Greer, Jakob Greer and Rhett Greer.
