Rita Mayeux Mayeux Periou

A loving mother and grandmother passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015, at the age of 93. She was a 1st Lt. in the US Army Nurse Corp. and followed the 82nd Airborne to the front lines during WWII. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Nicholson Post in Baton Rouge. She is survived by her children, Harry J. “Nick” Periou, Jr (Wanda), Constance “Connie” Green, and Leon H. Periou (Julie); eight grandchildren, Amy P. Veillette (Kevin), Ryan J. Periou, Aaron W. Periou, Monica G. Schaus (Brad), Laura P. Laborde (Brad), Warren L. “Trey” Green III, Christopher J. Periou, and Thomas S. Periou; seven great grandchildren, Austin, Lauren, and Leah Veillette, Daniel and Madelyn Schaus, Carter Periou, and Charles Laborde; former daughter in law, Gina G. Periou; and former son in law, Warren L. Green Jr; step grandchildren, Kristina Avela and Rachel Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Periou, Sr; parents, Henry and Marie Mayeux; one sister, Sr. Johnette Mayeux, O. S. B.; and brothers, James, John, L.V. “Pat”, Emmanuel, and Anthony “Tony” Mayeux; Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 9 AM until memorial service at 11:30 AM.
