Richard Michael Young, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his camp in MS, doing what he loved most…hunting. He was born on February 23, 1966, in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, to the late Helen and Col. F.R. Young, Jr. Richard’s parents settled in Baton Rouge in 1975. He attended St. Thomas More Elementary, Catholic High School, and earned his degree at LSU, where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. He spent most of his career working in industrial sales. Richard was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and loved LSU sports, especially tailgating. He was an excellent cook, always ready to boil crawfish or fire up the grill. You never had to wonder what Richard was thinking. He was a straight shooter and did whatever he wanted to do. Richard was a very outgoing and sociable person and had many friends. He will be truly missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Predeceased by his father, Fletcher and mother, Helen, Richard leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and family loyalty. Richard is survived by siblings, Robert Young and wife Lisa, Donald Young and wife Andi, Susan Young Donahue Lemoine and husband Dominic, and Bill Young; nieces, Kelsey Donahue Marshall and husband C.J., Riley Donahue; nephews, Brody, Cameron and Drew Young. Richard is also survived by so many longtime beloved friends - Childhood friends, fraternity brothers, hunting buddies, golfing partners, work friends, and LSU fans. Especially his second family, the Shaffers. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 11am until the time of funeral services at 1pm.
