Rick Nevils passed away peacefully on May 13, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 17, 1944, at the Naval Air Hospital in Key West, Florida. A life-long resident of Baton Rouge, Rick attended St. Gerard Majella, Redemptorist, and Robert E. Lee High School before transferring to Broadmoor High where he was class President of Broadmoor's first graduating class in 1962. Awarded a full golf scholarship to LSU, Rick was a letterman for the Tigers during his undergraduate years. He was a devoted member of the Kappa Alpha Order serving as Rush Chairman. Rick received his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert LSU Law Center. He was a member of the LSU National "L" Club and spent may a Tiger game day reminiscing with other athlete alumni. In addition to being an active member of the Louisiana State Bar and Baton Rouge Bar Associations, he enjoyed his experiences as a member of the Baton Rouge Country Club, Mystic Krewe of Achilles, Gen. Philemon Thomas Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, and the "Crusin' Buzzards". He most recently served as the Grand Marshal of the 2016 Baton Rouge Wearin' of the Green St. Patrick's Day Parade. RIck's interests extended far past his law career, as he was a world-travelled motorcyclist. Just two months before his death Rick road thousands of miles throughout Spain, Morocco and West Africa with the love of his life and wife of fifty plus years, René Pol Nevils. He was preceded in death by his parents Milton "Chic" Nevils; mother, Elfleda Theriot Nevils; and father-in-law, Warren Pol. Rick is survived by his wife René, his son Chris and daughter-in-law, Kim Heard Nevils, of Winnfield, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Nevils Dupree and Jason Dupree of Baton Rouge; a sister and brother-in-law, Noelle Nevils Lanier and Roger Lanier; mother-in-law Lorraine Pol; sister-in-law Sharon Pol: brother-in-law Stephen Pol and wife Judy Pol. He cherished his wonderful grandchildren Warren Glenn Dupree, Winston Richard Dupree, Katherine Cooper Nevils and Emily Jane Nevils. His greatest joy was spending time surrounded by his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. Rick never met a stranger. His love and loyalty for friends and family will never be forgotten. Long live the Legend of "Chilé Me Va!". Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Rabenhorst, 825 Government Street and continuing Wednesday, May 18, from 9:00 am until memorial service at 11:00 led by Fr.
