Raymond E. "Ray" Tangney, a native of Shreveport and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at the age of 66. Ray was retired from the Louisiana State Department of Revenue with 41 years of service and was jokingly called, "the Tax Historian" and was working for Broussard Partners and Associates. He frequently testified before the Louisiana Legislature concerning Tax legislation. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm and will continue on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12noon officiated by Rev. Trey Nelson, Rev. David Allen and Rev. Michael Collins. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Church cemetery. Survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary W. Tangney; a son, Patrick Tangney; and cousins, Glen and Joe Anne Daigre. Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Helen Tangney. He was a Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus council 9692, a District Deputy for the Louisiana Knights of Columbus, a member of the 4th Degree of the Bishop Ott Assembly, a member of St. Jude Catholic Church where he was a lector and Eucharistic minister, a past member of the St. Jude School Advisory Counsel, served on the diocesan school board for 13 years, past board member of the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators, and a Certified Public Accountant.
