A devoted and loving father and husband, Chip was born in Baton Rouge on February 9, 1960. Chip had just turned 54 when he passed away on February 11, 2014. He was a graduate of University High School and Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in computer science. While at LSU, he was a member of Acacia fraternity. He was a true computer "techie", who started with card readers at LSU to program computers before keyboards were available and remained connected to the computer industry over the decades to know today's latest technology. He was an avid LSU football fan and enjoyed watching auto racing. Chip's greatest joy was his kids. He loved watching his son follow in his footsteps playing football for U-High and observing his daughter's prodigious artistic talents. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Anita Rodrigue Bankston, two children, Ryan Christopher Bankston and Lauren Grace Bankston, his mother, Lillian Iverson Bankston, his sister, Dr. Susan M. Bankston, and his brother, Blance M. Bankston, all of Baton Rouge; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Wanda Rodrigue, brothers-in-law Brian, Todd, and Scott Rodrigue and their spouses, all of Thibodaux, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and hero, Ray P. Bankston, Jr. and also by his brother-in-law, Daniel Rodrigue. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Government St., Thursday, February 13, 2014 10:00 am until religious services at 12 noon. Services will be conducted by Dr. George Haile.
