Philip Joseph Pizzolato

Philip Joseph Pizzolato, born in New Orleans, La. On August 4, 1921, passed away at his St. James Place residence on Monday, November 5, 2013. In New Orleans he attended St Aloysius High School and Loyola University receiving a B.S. Degree in Inorganic Chemistry. He attended St. Louis University and obtained an M.S. Degree in Inorganic Chemistry. He joined the Navy during WWII as First Lieutenant in the Pacific Fleet. After the war he traveled to Illinois University and received his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry. He then began working on secret projects for 25 years for the Navy Research Center in Virginia. Subsequently, he was employed for 8 years developing different types of rocket fuels and engine materials for the Air Force I.C.B.M. rocket systems. He later worked at Martin Marietta in Colorado Springs. He then went to teach Chemistry at the University of Houston in Victoria, Texas. He later went back to Colorado and worked for Information Analytical Systems developing Catalog Index Systems for worldwide available parts, machinery and equipment until he retired in 1987. He lived in New Orleans until 1999 and moved to Baton Rouge, La to reside at St. James Place. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josephine Terranova Pizzolato, and sister Catherine Pizzolato. He is survived by his cousins Carlos and Maria Quiroga, and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Pallbearers will be Carlos Quiroga, Robert Benoit, Cameron Benoit, Robert Magazine, Nicholas Magazine, and Brandon Magazine. Honorary pallbearers are Benjamin Loup and Mark Comarda. Visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave. in Baton Rouge from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8. Internment will follow in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery in New Orleans, La, 3421 Esplanade Ave, at 2pm.
