Peggy Russell Sullivan “Mawmaw” was born on January 4, 1944, in Kingsville, TX. She was 79 years old and residing in Walker, LA. Peggy passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at home with family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Larry Sullivan, her husband of 31 years, and also preceded in death by Odie Russell (father), Clara Cebula (mother), and Brenda Wheatly (sister).
Peggy was survived by Jimmy Beckham (first husband) and her two children, Brooks Beckham (son) and Kimberly Franks (daughter), her brother Robert Cebula, her sister Carolyn McClure, 7 grandchildren Brooks Straub, Justin Straub, Ashlee Velasquez, Sophie Murphy, Nestor Angel, Omar Angel, and Carlos Angel and 2 great grandchildren Coral Velasquez and Jude Velasquez, and one grandson in-law Joel Velasquez and one granddaughter in-law Shelia Townsend Straub.
Peggy, a cherished figure in the lives of her family, friends, and community, embodied the roles of a nurturing mother, devoted grandmother, and inspiring mentor. Throughout her remarkable journey, she achieved great success as an entrepreneur, showcasing her skills as a property manager and home builder in Louisiana, and later as the esteemed owner of a wrecker service in Texas. Beyond her professional endeavors, Peggy's passion for baking was renowned, as she delighted in creating delectable treats that brought joy to countless individuals, including her loved ones, neighbors, and even local police and fire departments. Her culinary creations not only left an indelible mark on taste buds but also sparked lively conversations, making Peggy's treats the most sought-after delights in town.
Peggy’s family values were love and knowledge. She was a compassionate soul whose life was dedicated to spreading love and knowledge. Their unwavering belief in the power of empathy touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on the world.
