Ken Kleinpeter, a native and lifelong resident of Grosse Tete passed away on October 30, 2014 in his family home where he was born on August 24, 1927. He was a graduate of Shady Grove High School and a 1952 graduate of LSU. He retired from Dow Chemical after 27 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, and was a fixture in the Tiger Stadium Press Box, having worked with the LSU Sports Information Department for over 55 years at the basketball and football games. He was very devoted to his time at LSU, having missed only three home games during this span. He also served on the Iberville Parish Police Jury for over 27 years. Mr. Kleinpeter was very devoted to his loving wife of 62 years, Katherine "Kay" Sanchez Kleinpeter. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and "surveying his estate" in Grosse Tete. He was very well liked by everyone with whom he came into contact and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kay" Sanchez Kleinpeter; one daughter, Mary Kay Kleinpeter-Zamora, New Orleans; six sons and five daughters in law, Kenny Kleinpeter, Cold Springs, New York, Judge William Kleinpeter (Beth) Port Allen, Steve Kleinpeter (Cindy), George Kleinpeter (Janet), David Kleinpeter (Melanie) all of Baton Rouge and Karl Kleinpeter (Stacey), Zachary; one sister, Rita Kleinpeter Stuart, Pensacola, Florida; one sister in law, Becky Glover (Bill) LaCombe, LA; and one brother in law Harold Lacoste (Rosalie) Baton Rouge. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sidney Kleinpeter and Mary Ida Blanchard Kleinpeter; three brothers, William Sidney Kleinpeter, Jr., Francis "Jinks" Kleinpeter, and Leo "Jerry" Kleinpeter; one sister, Katherine Kleinpeter Kimball; and one grandson Alejandro "Alex" Zamora. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grosse Tete. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
