Patricia “Patsy” Ann Smith Lowrey, 82, went Home to Jesus on January 4, 2021. Her life, which began on June 16, 1938 in Baton Rouge, was one of consistent devotion to her faith, family and friends. She graduated from BRHS, was a member of OES, a retired school teacher's aide, a fervent prayer warrior and maker of candy popcorn.
In her earlier years she could be found jumping off barns, playing football with the boys, caring for her younger siblings or leading her church Training Union program at 16 years old. Many of her days were spent shucking corn, cooking rabbit, sewing for others, working in the church nursery and watching Hallmark movies with Daniel. Pat took life “one day at a time” and often said “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it”. She was full of wisdom, life, and love, and she shared with all who knew her. She always had time to listen.
She is preceded in death by her parents Millard D Sr. and Ebba Vina Stephens Smith, her son Duane Edgar Lowrey, and her brothers Roger Smith, and Dennis Smith (and his wife Ginny).
She is survived by her husband James Wiley Lowrey of 59 years, her eldest son and caretaker Daniel James Lowrey and her daughter Donna Faye Masula and her son-in-law Dan; her grandchildren: Kaitlin Lowrey Veale and her husband Nick, Duncan Lowrey, and Caleb (his wife Nesya), Alyssa, Owen, Gabriel, Margo and Lydia Masula; her great grandchildren: Kaleb, Aiden, Joseph, and Zackary Veale; her sister-in-law Grace Smith, her sister Wanda and brother-in law Delos Brown, her brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry and Linda Smith, Marshall and Deborah Smith and MD Jr. and Valerie Smith; “Her Girls”; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 15th from 4pm-7pm and Saturday, January 16th from 9am-10am at her church, Family of Faith Southern Baptist Church at 10748 Perkins Rd. Baton Rouge, LA.
