Bro. Oliver L. Smith 66, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. went home to be with his lord on Saturday May 29, 2021. He was a dedicated member of Greater St. John Baptist Church, where he loved sharing his love of the lord, singing in the choir, fellowshipping and making everyone laugh by cracking jokes. Oliver served his country proudly for twenty plus years in the United States Army Reserve, and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He was a kind and generous man always willing to help others in need. Oliver is preceded in death by his parents Rachel and Ben Smith Sr., and his son, Marlon L. Smith. He leaves behind to cherish in his memories, daughters, Shelita Smith, Sharon Smith; brothers, Lee Dell Young, Ben Smith Jr., Brad Smith; Grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Shania Smith, Aniyah Smith; close friend Taneshia Fisher, and her children Taylor-Iman Fields, Oliver L. Smith Fisher. Services will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Baton Rouge, LA. on Tuesday June 8, 2021, visitation will be from 9 am until the funeral service at 12 pm with interment to follow at Louisiana National Cemetery at 2 pm. Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Kenric Henry, and Caleb Smith.
