Morris Ray McQuiddy, Sr. (Mac), a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 3, 2024. Morris was born on June 24, 1944, grew up in Winnfield, Louisiana and graduated from Winnfield High School. He relocated to Baton Rouge and began his career with BASF Corporation. There, he worked more than 25 years before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Rossbottom McQuiddy of more than 30 years. Also, surviving him are his sons Morris Ray McQuiddy, Jr. and Sean McQuiddy and daughter Shannon McQuiddy, stepchildren Rick Truax (and his wife Heather), Kimberly Truax, and Chris Truax (and his wife Michelle).
Known to them as Pops, he is survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Terry McQuiddy and sisters, Jan Smith and Ann Simmons.
Preceding him in death are his parents Melvin McQuiddy and Helen Thompson McQuiddy, grandmother Elva Thompson and his sister Delores Gay. Also, preceding him are his grandchildren Ryleigh McQuiddy, Christopher Truax and Maggie Truax.
Morris was loved by all who knew him. His great sense of humor was overshadowed only by his kindness and ever present willingness to help anyone.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA on March 23 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the church reception center.
