Morris Butler, Jr. a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his Soul mate and Travel Partner, Pearl "Ginny" Ingwersen; 2 sons, Jeffery John Butler and Greggory Delaine Butler; parents, Morris Butler Sr. and Theresa Daigle Butler. He is survived by his four children, Michael Morris Butler (Tammy), Christopher William Butler (Nikole), Anastasia Elizabeth Jarreau (Stephen), Christian David Butler; Brother, John Daigle Butler; Daughter in law, Karen Hodgeson Butler; 17 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Morris graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1950, where he played on the Basketball team. He went on to attend LSU where he graduated with a Bachelor's in Science. While at LSU he played the trumpet for the Golden Band and was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilom Fraternity. He was a season ticket holder for LSU sports. Morris was a veteran. Early in his life he served in the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant Navigator. Later in life he went on to take over the family furniture business, Butler Furniture Company. He practiced Karate and advanced to the level of black belt, attended LSU Ollie Classes, and tutored children at St. Bernard Terrace Elementary, a member of book clubs, movie clubs and the Republican Party. Morris was a member of the Southside Baptist Church where he served as Head Deacon, and was a highly respected Sunday school teacher. His favorite past times included, Sailing, diving, fishing, any time spent on the Gulf waters, reading and traveling the world. He was a loving father, Poppy, brother, protector and comforter that held the Butler family together. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cynthia James, Toni Strickland and Pointe Coupee Hospice for their kindness and hours of dedication. Family and Friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home. On February 1, 2018 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm. The Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
