Michael Edward “Mike” Hicks, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed from this life surrounded by his family on April 21, 2022. He was 75. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, painting, traveling, storytelling, and playing with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mike was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church for decades serving in many positions, including Chairman of Trustees. Mike obtained a B.S. in industrial engineering from LSU in 1971 and went on to become a successful businessman, co-founding Four Star Industrial Contractors in the 1980’s.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Sue; sons, Brad Hicks and Brent Hicks and wife Willa LeBlanc; grandchildren, Michael Hicks, Lauren Hicks and Jed Smith; brother Dan Hicks and wife Debbie; brother-in-law Randy Magnolia and wife Rhonda; niece Renee LeBlanc and husband Tommy; great-nephew Clay LeBlanc; great-niece Kate LeBlanc; lifelong friends Carol and Davis Dominque; and numerous other nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank his nieces, Amanda Richardson and Melissa Claburn for the excellent and compassionate care they provided their Uncle Mike during his illness. The team at Our Lady of the Lake was also remarkable.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas Elton Hicks and Lillian Beatrice McDonald Hicks; sisters Lila Sue Hicks Galvez and Theresa Lynatte Hicks Crider; brother Thomas Allen Hicks; and in-laws Steve and Hazel Magnolia.
Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at noon with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. with interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
