Michael Big Mike Lee Guidry

Michael Lee "Big Mike" Guidry, 51, was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. After a valiant fight, he lost his battle with lung cancer. Mike passed away at his home in Watson, LA at 6:55 pm Friday June 15, 2012. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. Mike was a native of Baton Rouge an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a retired member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 406 where he worked as a Crane Operator. Mike is survived by his wife of 27 years Wanda Wildey Guidry, his sons Ashton and Jonathan Guidry, daughter in law Rachel Tynes Guidry (Ashton), two grandsons Tynes and Dane Guidry, four brothers and their wives Ronnie and Debbie Guidry, Jimmy and Brenda Guidry, Terry and Garnet Guidry and Waylan and Dana Guidry along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws that he was very close to. He was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Adelle Guidry, two sisters Drucilla Edwards and Kathleen Tranchina and a niece Amy Guidry. Our family would like to thank Dr David Hanson and Dr Charles Wood and our very dear friend and Oncology Nurse Lori McLin Stroughter as well as the staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Treatment Center. We would also like to thank St Joseph Hospice, Nurse Brandi Baker, and all of the St Joseph Hospice Continuous Care Nurses (especially Ms Brenda). We would encourage donations to St Joseph Hospice foundation to help them continue to provide the quality care we experienced. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday 6/19/2012 from 5 until 9 pm. visiting continues at the funeral home on Wednesday 6/20/2012 from 10 am until service time at 2 pm. Pallbearers will be Ashton Guidry, Jonathan Guidry, Dillon Tranchina, Greg Lindsey, Ray Tynes and Keith Kinchen. Honorary Pallbearers Ronnie Guidry, Jimmy Guidry, Terry Guidry, Waylan Guidry, Lee Guidry, Leo Hebert, John Wildey, Jr and Kyle Idler.We will be gathering at Greenoaks Life Celebration Center next door to the funeral home immediately following the burial services.
