Merle Leefe Alexander of Baton Rouge, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014. She was born in New Orleans, LA to the union of Walter Benjamin Leefe and Anna Frances Louque Leefe. Merle was a retired officer with City National Bank, now J.P. Morgan Chase. At the age of five, Merle's mother died and her rearing was taken over by her aunt and uncle, Carmen Louque Mouras and Cleveland Mouras, who was employed with the Louisiana State Auditor's Office. She attended Saint Joseph's Academy, University High School and Louisiana State University. She was a member of The Junior League, Questor's Book Club, Woman's Club of Baton Rouge, Eye Bank Auxiliary and Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, J. Lee Alexander, of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place, Baton Rouge, The Eye Bank of Baton Rouge, 5000 Hennessy Ave., Baton Rouge, or The Carpenter House, 10615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government St., at 12:30 pm with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
