Meredith S. Bourg, born Feb. 19, 1925, and a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at her home, with loved ones by her side. She was the daughter of the late Irene and Wallace Simoneaux Sr. and widow of Emile J. Bourg Jr. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Meredith is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Smith and husband Greg, Lafayette, Sharon Bourg, Dickinson, Texas, and Barbara Blanchard and husband J.D. of Zachary; four sons, James "Skipper" Bourg and wife Pat, and Michael Bourg, all of Baton Rouge, Steven Bourg Sr. and wife Glenda, Palatka, Fla., and Jeffrey Bourg, Baton Rouge; sister, Mrs. Betty Bellue; brother, Wallace Simoneaux Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Brad, Jason, Ryan, Joshua and Chip Bourg, Jacob Stephens, Chrisy Wilbert, D'Anne Harrell, Jennifer and Joey Blanchard, Melinda Trahan and Alicia Duplessis; six stepgrandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Daniel Bourg; and brother, J. Byron Simoneaux. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Smith, J.D. and Joey Blanchard, Blair Wilbert, Josh Harrell, John Duplessis and Scott Tippett. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Dec. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday.
