Melba K. Staub of Baton Rouge died on September 30, 2024. The widow of Perry R. Staub, Sr., she is survived by her four children, Perry R. Staub, Jr. of Picayune, MS; Susan C. Staub of Boone, NC; Marcus G. Staub, of Metairie, LA, and Gretchen Staub Bugeaud, of Ville d’Avray, France; seven grandchildren: Erin, Allison, Collin, Marcus, Tyler, Gabriel, and Faustine; and one great-grandchild, Grey. For over 28 years she coordinated the ESL program at Catholic Community Services. Given her lifelong love of books, it seems fitting that she also worked for LSU libraries from 1983 until her retirement this past July. Most of those years were spent in Interlibrary Loan, where she took great satisfaction in finding rare materials for professors in what she sometimes likened to a scavenger hunt. The family would like to thank the nurses at the Baton Rouge General for their kindness and dedicated care while she was in the ICU. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
