Mary Frances McEachern Stephens

Mary Frances McEachern Stephens, native of Homer and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the age of 83. Mary was a member of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge. She retired from the Department of Natural Resources. Mary was an avid gardener who had a passion for music, and also enjoyed painting and sewing. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mary is survived by her daughter, Rachel L. Stephens; sons, John C. Stephens and wife Rainette, George P. Stephens, Jr., Robert A. Stephens; grandchildren, Christina Stephens, Adam Stephens, Jennifer Stephens, and Laura Rose Scully; and great granddaughter, Hannah Stephens. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Prentiss Stephens; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Stephens; parents, John and Lillie McEachern; brother, John Allen McEachern; and sister, Florence Wetherford. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, August 19, 2016 beginning at 6pm until 8pm. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, August 19 at 8am until funeral service at 9am conducted by Steve Crump. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. Memorial donations in honor of Mary Stephens can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
