Mary Katherine Davidson Paine, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her home. Mary Katherine was born on October 17, 1920 in Bogalusa, Louisiana, but spent the majority of her life in Baton Rouge. Although her life was filled with family, she was also a talented artist, excellent cook, former teacher, and avid Tiger fan. Mary Katherine was a devoted mother to her three children, Arthur S. Paine, II (married to Carol Paine), Bea Castricone, and Cathy Hoffmann (married to David Hoffmann), all of Baton Rouge. She brought much joy to the lives of her grandchildren, Katie Paine Martin (married to Jeff Martin, Lafayette), Michael Paine (married to Allison Hillburn Paine, Mandeville), Daniel Hoffmann (Baton Rouge) and Julie Hoffmann Boies (married to Barry Boies, Baton Rouge). But the easiest way to bring a smile to her face was a visit from any of her six great grandchildren, Trey and Jaidan Paine, Ty, Matt and Ann Marie Martin, and Brant Boies. She also left behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews, especially Jerri Davidson Cowan and Jamie Lafaye. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marshall C. Paine, her parents, Mary and Carl Davidson, her three brothers, Bill, Dick, and Jack Davidson, and her grandson, Marshall "Marty" Paine, II. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Baton Rouge Women's Club, the Red Cross, PEO, Broadmoor United Methodist Church. She also served as den mother and leader for scout troops. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Ingleside United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a 3:00 p.m. funeral, conducted by the Rev. Jay Hodgewood. Thereafter, she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Michael Paine, Daniel Hoffmann, David Hoffmann, Jeff Martin, Barry Boies, and Ronnie Rabalais. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Robert Guy, Dr. James Hoth, and Donald Ewing.
