A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA, Cookie was born on June 22, 1938. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO as well as LSU. She worked for Exxon, Ronnie’s Flower Shop and Dillard’s Department Store (Goudchaux’s).
Cookie was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Passe’ Bon Temps and the Southern Retail Florist Association. She loved to needlepoint, Broadway plays, traveling both domestic and internationally and all LSU sporting events.
She is survived by her brother Fred J Grace III (Linda), 3 children Trey Merrill (L.T. Beaton), Carter Merrill (Mary Beth) and Mary Jane Merrill and 5 grandchildren Melissa Merrill, Risley St. Germain Jr (Tiffany), Ryan St. Germain (Valerie), Erin Merrill Blount (Silas Crawford) and Corey Merrill and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Ronald “Ronnie” L. Merrill and parents Mary Jane Carter Grace and Fred J Grace Jr.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to her caregivers Deyonica Peterson, Amy Barcelona, Roselyn Houston and Joyce Windsor for their love and compassion.
Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, from 10 AM to 12 Noon Wednesday December 16 with a graveside burial immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Park 4045 North St Baton Rouge, LA.
The Pallbearers will be John Brittain, Fred Dent Jr., Corey Merrill, Michael Spano, Risley St. Germain Jr. and Ryan St. Germain.
