Mary Roppolo DeLaune, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2017 at the age of 87.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Joseph Ray DeLaune; son Mark Gregory DeLaune; granddaughter Kelcie Michele DeLaune; sisters Lena Roppolo Accomando and husband John, Carol Roppolo Thibodeaux and husband Donald; sister-in-law Charlene Roppolo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Joseph Michael DeLaune, parents Victor Joseph and Victoria DeJohn Roppolo, and four brothers, Victor Joseph (VJ) and wife Ida Viverata Roppolo, Lawrence, Harry and Salvadore (Sammy) Roppolo.
Mary graduated from Baton Rouge High School and Baton Business College. She initially worked as a secretary for Franklin Life Insurance Company and later became a successful sales associate for Greenoaks Memorial Park for almost forty years. She was past president of the Insurance Women of Baton Rouge, former secretary to the Baton Rouge Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, a former member of Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Baton Rouge. Mary was very proud of her Italian heritage and was a member of the American Italian Association.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mary enjoyed entertaining, dining out, dancing, cooking and baking.
Services are under the guidance of Greenoaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11141 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
