A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn Joy Roy, 95, passed on March 26, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Known as Joy, she was born on November 12th,1929 in Smithdale, Mississippi the daughter of Quincy and Jewel Adams. She shared a twin sister, Carolyn Jean, in a family of nine children which included three sets of twins. Joy met her husband Thomas Albin Roy III (Tom) on a blind date in Baton Rouge and they eloped the following year. The couple moved to Germany in 1954 where Tom was in the service before settling in Baton Rouge. They had three children Thomas Albin Roy IV, Carolyn Joy Roy and Sanford Forrest Roy. Their family grew with the addition of Sanford’s wife Jan Aubert Roy and four grandchildren, Thomas Albin Roy V, Tess Adams Roy, Ashley Marie Roy, and Forrest Gerard Roy. Joy lived a life of grace and beauty. Her gardens, interiors, culinary skills and gift for entertaining were unparalleled. She had a way of making everything more beautiful with her kindness and generosity. Her home was a place of love where she created thoughtful meals that brought family and friends together. She was also fiercely independent, resilient and strong. Her unyielding spirit will be missed. A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Baton Rouge on April 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
