Marie Elizabeth Parent Poole

Marie Elizabeth Parent Poole, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 6, 2013 at Oakwood Village Assisted Living just 7 days short of her 100th birthday. Marie was a 1931 graduate of Istrouma High School. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, serving on the Altar Society and was a founding member of the Catholic Daughters. Marie was a great cook and devoted her life to caring and nurturing her family. Marie is survived by her three sons, Robert A. Poole, Jr. and wife Annette Davis, John H. Poole, Sr. and wife Juanita Thiels, and Joseph M. “Coony” Poole and wife Carolyn Portier; daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Poole Miesch and husband Michael T. Miesch; two sisters, Theresa Parent Bonaventure and Juanita Parent Starks; thirteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Poole, Sr.; parents, Alfred J. Parent and Elmena LeBlanc Parent; brothers, Alfred Glennon Parent and Byron J. Parent; sisters, Hilda Parent McClure, Vera Parent McGegee, and Alice Parent; and grandson, John H. Poole, Jr. Visitation will be held Thursday October 10, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3824 Lee St, Zachary 70791 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their gratitude and give a special thanks to the staff of Oakwood Village Assisted Living, including Milton and Vonda; Gloria and her staff in the special care unit; and her caregivers, Ellieawease, Sharon, and Stephanie.
