Marian"Pete"Rollins de la Bretonne Shaver

A resident of Baton Rougeand a native of Houma, she passed on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at 1:48 a.m.atM.D.AndersonCancerCenterin Houstonat age 64. She was a 1960 graduate ofTerrebonneHigh Schooland received a bachelor's degree in medical technology from theUniversityofSouthwestern Louisianain 1966. "Pete" was a retired medical technologist for Ochsner Clinic and a member of The American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She was devoted to Kappa Delta sorority. She served as president of the Baton Rouge Alumnae Association and as a national officer, Province Alumnae officer 7 west. For her devoted and outstanding service, "Pete" received the prestigious Order of the Emerald Award. She achieved the goals of so many who strive for the honorable, beautiful and the highest. She is survived by her husband, James O. "Jim" Shaver; son, Larry de la Bretonne III and wife Dana de la Bretonne of Baton Rouge; daughter, Jeannine Ruth de la Bretonne of New Orleans; stepson, James A. Shaver and wife Paulette Shaver of Humble, Texas; two stepdaughters, Nancy Toms and her husband, Jay Toms, of San Antonio, and Melissa Haase of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mollie Ruth Hoffmann of Thibodeaux and Beth Breaux of Houma; a brother, Jack Rollins of Houma; two grandsons, Will and Christopher de la Bretonne; and two stepgrandchildren, Jason and Allison Toms. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Rollins and Ruth Margaret Young Rollins; and her husband of first marriage, Laurence Willard "Larry" de la Bretonne Jr. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Feb. 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Friday from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. David Allen, celebrant. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory with Jack Rollins, Mike Breaux, John Hoffmann, Mike Ottinger, Pat Ottinger and Jim A. Shaver serving as pallbearers.
