Marguerite F. Wilton died early in the morning of April 9, 2025. “MeMe” is now reunited with “Poppa”, who, while happy to see her, has undoubtedly relished the last two decades of relative silence. The only child of E. Vance and Winona Garrison Felder, Marguerite was born on August 24, 1925, and raised in Denham Springs before marrying Norman J. “Poppa” Wilton, Jr. and moving with him to Baton Rouge and starting a family. During their 62-year marriage, MeMe and Poppa traveled the world, whether during Poppa’s time in the Navy, his time with Ethyl Corporation, or together with generations of friends in an Airstream or on a cruise ship, before his death on November 30, 2006. MeMe's travels may have slowed in the years since, but her stories never did. MeMe is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norman J. “Joe” Wilton, III and Mary Agosta Wilton; her grandchildren, Sara W. Klein (Ben) and Seth Taylor Wilton; and her great- grandchildren, John Barrow Klein and Andrew Joseph Klein. She is also survived by friends and loved ones, whether from church, the neighborhood, the gym, or the card table, and the family extends heartfelt thanks for all they have done over the years. Visitation will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m., celebrated by Father Praveen. Interment in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, take some time and tell a stranger too much about yourself, or give to the Baton Rouge Food Bank, St. Thomas More, or a charity of your choice.
