Mitchell, Margie RitaMargie Rita Mitchell at the age of 93 and resident of Baton Rouge entered the Gates of Heaven on December 13, 2015. She joins her beloved late husband, Samuel Mitchell to whom she was married for 67 years. She showed her great devotion by caring for her invalid husband for the remaining 8 years of his life. Margie was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and was devoted to her Catholic faith. She and her husband, Sam, were active members of St. Aloysius Church for over fifty-years. They helped start the parish in 1955. Her love for the Blessed Virgin Mary was evident as she kept a statue of Our Lady dressed in blue in her room where she prayed. Margie enjoyed entertaining her family especially on the holidays and cooking for them. She was an excellent cook and specialized in Italian and French foods. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the world and took several cruises. Other interests she enjoyed were gardening, feeding the birds in her backyard, listening to music and singing along. She was very active and loved to take long walks. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Cathy Mitchell and three sons and their wives, Ronald and Betty Mitchell, Thomas and Patricia Mitchell, and David and Vickie Mitchell; eight grandchildren, Bronwyn, Christopher, Melissa, Daniel, Andrea, Lisa, Justin, and Chad; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gilberta Galtier.
