Margaret Ann “Mag” Boykin Wall, 85, a native of Beaumont, Texas and a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, died at her home on the morning of April 20, 2023. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Hoyas Boykin and Burwell Joseph Boykin. She is survived by her three children, Craig Wall (Kim), Kathleen “Sissy” Stephens (Ralph) and Linda Whitson (Charlie); nine grandchildren, Kacie Wall Brown, James “Jimmy” Wall, Stephen Wall, Andrew Stephens, Joseph Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Davis Whitson, Douglas Whitson and Thomas Whitson; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Brown and Emma Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Williams Davis Wall IV, and two brothers, Burwell Boykin III and Lorenzo Boykin.
Mag graduated from LSU with a degree in education and taught elementary school before retiring to raise her family. Never accused of being shy, Mag loved people—her family, friends, and those in the community. For many years, she served as a reading buddy at Highland Elementary School, a Chi Omega Scholarship advisor, a St. Aloysius Vacation Bible School volunteer and a sponsor for the St. Aloysius Evenings for the Engaged. She was both a great cook and a Master Gardner. Her love of plants and flowers led her to serve as the University Acres Beautification Chairperson for over 30 years. She loved entertaining friends, spoiling grandchildren, Elvis, playing bridge, her Snow Village Christmas display, and dancing with Bill…but most of all, she loved her friends, she loved her family, and she loved life.
Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Church on Friday, April 28 beginning at 10:30 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 12 noon. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dorothy Bindon, Dr. Mike Rolfsen and Dr. Emily Richard, who all gave Mag such remarkable loving care.
