Mrs. Margaret Geneva Barker Smith, 97, passed away on October 14, 2024, at Legacy Nursing Home. She was born January 15, 1927, in Centreville, MS, to the late James Scott and Margaret Adelia Barker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 65 years, Edward H. Smith; and her brother and sister-in-law, James and Rose Barker. She is survived by her son, Dan (Yvonne) Smith of Plaquemine, LA; her grandchildren, Darryl (Mandy) Smith, Damian Smith, and Danna (John) Castleman; her great grandchildren, Makenzie, Lily, Taylor, Maddie, Chloe, Aubry, Colton and Annaleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Centreville, MS. Dan would like to extend a special thank you to the devoted staff at Legacy Nursing Home, who took such wonderful care of Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
