Born in Washington D.C. on March 19, 1940 and moved to Shreveport, LA in 1945. Attended Fair Park High School and went to college at Louisiana Tech. Met and married Fred G Perry, the father of her two children, Rick and Cindy, whose love filled her heart. Worked as a real estate agent for years, was a manager of Hancock Fabric, however her favorite job was at L & S Trophies.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Jackie Bryan, her mother Mary Stephens, her step father Robert Stephens, her father Paul Recchione, father of her children Fred Perry and the love of her life and best friend John D. McConnell. Together they joined their lives on a spiritual journey lasting until his death.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Perry (Magnolia AR), her son Rick Perry and his wife Janet (Conroe, TX), two grandchildren Christopher Merlin Perry, his wife Amylynne (Seattle, WA) and Rikileigh Perry, her fiancé Justin Hinton (Denton, TX) and one great granddaughter Quinn Perry. Later in life she found she had 4 half siblings- 2 sisters Margaret Conroy and Barbara McDonough, 2 brothers Richard Recchione and Paul Recchione. They met and found love worth waiting for.

My mom was a good person she help everyone she knew, loved and touched everyone. She took people to the places they needed to be. She loved working in her yard, shopping at Wal-mart, walking with her friend Melissa and her beloved dogs. She loved her life so much up to the end. She was a great Mom and wife to John.
Margaret (Peggy) McConnell passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, surrounded by loved ones at the Butterfly Wing at Baton Rough General Hospital.
A longtime resident of Baton Rouge her life will be remembered for the countless ways she enriched humanity. Her help reached into the 4 legged community including adoptions she provided for so many dogs and cats who crossed her path.
Peggy with John were devoted members of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church spending many hours lovingly preparing meals for the LSU students. Peggy was a Master Gardener and an active member, always sharing her love of plants and expertise.
Peggy gave unceasingly to help countless people struggling with addiction in the Baton Rouge area. Ever effectively, holding hope for those who had lost hope in themselves. For over a decade Peggy carried her message of strength and hope to the women incarcerated in the Baton Rouge area.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church or The O’Brien House in Baton Rouge. Due to COVID pandemic, the family will plan a celebration of life to come July 2021. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
