Margaret Francis Cannon Blackwell, 85, born June 12, 1925, in New Orleans, grew up in Independence and graduated as valedictorian of Albany High School in 1943. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Denham Springs, a founding member of Lanier Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and a retired East Baton Rouge Parish school system bus driver. Survived by her two daughters, Barbara Clover and husband Charles, and Paulette Caillouet and husband Joey; three sons, David Blackwell and wife Sheri, Glenn Paul Blackwell and wife Susan and Kenneth Blackwell and wife Peggy; daughter-in-law, Jean Blackwell; 15 grandchildren, Christopher Clover and wife Aubrey, Carrie Rhymes and husband Marcus, Ronald Blackwell, Danny Blackwell and wife Elita, Terri Blackwell, James Hohensee and wife Shannan, David Aaron Blackwell and wife Monica, Jason Blackwell, Jaime Blackwell, Margaret "Maggie" Blackwell, Cammie O'Neal and husband Daniel, Marshall Caillouet, Ken Blackwell Jr. and wife Amy, Laura Blackwell, and John Newman Blackwell; and 13 great-grandchildren, Avery, Rylan, Cohen, Maely, Emily, Carter, Owen, Austin, Madison, Peyton, Olivia, Natalie, Reece and Dani. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, George Newman Blackwell; son, Ronald Arthur Blackwell; and parents, Martin Arthur Cannon and Myrtle Whiddon Cannon. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday from noon until service at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. We celebrate a Christian life lived in love, service and dedication to her family, church and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's honor to Life Source Services of Baton Rouge (Hospice).
